Dermal Fillers: For Faces and Hands

Dermal Fillers | Columbus Women's Care | Columbus OH Have you ever put your hand on a loved one’s shoulder or cheek and noticed just how much you’ve changed? Our hands can surprise us with how suddenly they seem to age. Truth be told, our hands do age differently than the rest of our body because they see so much more work and sunlight. The only other part of our body that sees as much sun is the face. However, the chances are that you’ve been applying sunscreen or using skincare to help counteract signs of aging there. To add insult to injury, our hands lose connective tissue and fat as we age. Not only do our hands have age spots, they also tend to look more frail and bony as we age.

What can we do about it? Keep reading to learn how to rejuvenate the look of your hands.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are FDA-approved to be safe for the hands, though we often think of fillers as being for the face first and foremost. Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero Balance, and other fillers can be used to plump up the back of your hands, hiding the protruding tendons, joints, and veins in just one short appointment.

We prefer fillers that use hyaluronic acid since these tend to pose less risk of allergic reaction in patients. Hyaluronic acid also occurs naturally in humans, so it’s less foreign to the body than other filler ingredients.

Laser Treatments & Chemical Peels

Laser treatments and chemical peels can help scrub away uneven skin texture and age spots left behind after years of UV exposure. Depending on your specific situation, we may recommend one treatment over the other to give you the best results.

Chemical peels and laser treatments can help the signs of:

  • Skin damaged by sun
  • Pigmented lesions
  • Scarring
  • Age spots
