STD Testing and Treatment with Columbus Women’s Care

At Columbus Women’s Care, we work with women in and around the community of Canal Winchester, OH who are interested in the testing and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, or “STDs.” STD’s can be diagnosed with our team and often treated through our practice in a discreet manner to ensure the upmost confidentiality. Our practice can test and treat patients for:

  • Herpes
  • Syphilis
  • Bacterial vaginosis
  • Chlamydia
  • Genital warts
  • Gonorrhea
  • Trichomoniasis

We can also test and diagnose for HIV, but treatment for this condition can be difficult. Patients who obtain a diagnosis of HIV will need to work with a professional to discuss their options for maintaining their health and wellness while living with this condition.

What treatments are available for STD’s?

Each STD may require specific treatments. This may include oral or topical medications. Our team of providers can educate patients on the sexually transmitted disease they have tested positive for. Additionally, our associates at Columbus Women’s Care will also educate patients on STD prevention. This may include the use of condoms during sexual intercourse. Patients who are worried about conditions such as HPV can also ask for the hepatitis B vaccine to reduce their risk of contracting HPV.

How are STD’s diagnosed?

There are many types of diagnostic options when it comes to testing for sexually transmitted diseases. Some conditions such as chlamydia and gonorrhea are tested using a urine sample. Others may be diagnosed during a genital examination by visual diagnosis. Conditions such as HIV are tested via blood draws and the results are often available within approximately one week.

When should I be tested for an STD?

  • When unprotected sex has occurred
  • When a sexual partner has been diagnosed
  • During routine annual examinations if sexually active
  • If symptoms of an STD exist
