Our vaginas do so much for us. So, it makes sense that we would want to take care of them, too. But, for so many of us, we don’t actually know how to help keep our vaginas healthy. There is a mix of information out there, and old ideas of the past have a hard time letting go. Keep reading to learn some of the best ways you can take care of your vagina and keep it healthy.
Skip the Soap
When it comes to our vaginal health, so many of us are still not sure what to do. Keeping ourselves healthy is actually easier than you may think, though! That’s because, for a good portion of us, we’re actually doing more than we need to.
Our vaginas can take care of themselves, and so soaps, body washes, and douches actually just cause more harm than good. Stop using douches or any other harsh, perfumed cleansers in the vagina, and you’ll probably start to notice a world of difference. If you feel the need to use soap, use something gentle, non-foaming, and non-perfumed. Understanding your vagina without the heavy perfumes might just help you learn more and understand when your vagina is unhealthy.
Ban Bacteria
One quick switch can help encourage vaginal health. Wiping front to back is the best way to keep unwanted bacteria from the vagina. Keep this in mind when you’re getting hot and heavy with a partner, too. Never allow anything near your vagina that’s been elsewhere. Your vagina will thank you for it, and you’ll be happier with your sexual escapades as a result.
Eat for your Vagina
Yes, food can impact your vaginal health. You may have heard that cranberry juice can help you treat Urinary Tract Infections, and there’s some science that backs up those claims. So, it can’t be that far-fetched to see that other foods can provide beneficial nutrient that our vaginas need. Yogurt and other probiotic foods encourage healthy vaginas, so think proactively and eat for your vaginal health.
